I
want to thank Mohammed
Noorae at Noor Oriental Rugs for the beautiful
rug I recently purchased. I have never
owned a real oriental rug before.
I bought a gift certificate through the
WGBH auction that Noor Oriental Rugs had
generously donated to the PBS Station.
The expiration date was for December 1st
of last year. I went over to the store
and met with Mohammed at the beginning
of December. I was overwhelmed
at the number of choices and the
different criteria that I needed to
consider when choosing a rug. Mohammed
patiently worked with me and was very
generous to let me wait until after the
holidays to choose a rug. When I went in
with the colors, rug style, and the
dimensions of the kind of rug that I
would need, he spent a lot of time with
me and was very intuitive to my needs.
Going through the myriad of choices, he
picked out a few rugs out of the large
stack of beautiful rugs, giving his
recommendations. One of the rugs that he
thought would be the best choice and one
I liked, is the one I finally chose – it
is beautiful and looks wonderful in my
room! It fits perfectly in size
and colors and quality. Every time I
walk in the room, I love it!
The pictures do not
really do the rug justice. It is perfect
for the room. I apologize for my camera!
Thank you!-Priscilla Smith

Dear Mohammad,
I would like to
express my gratitude for the wonderful
experience I had over the summer with
Mohammad Nooraee of Noor Oriental Rugs.
While getting ready to move, I
discovered that my two rugs were filled
with moths and moth damage. One of the
two rugs was a Persian rug, something I
inherited from my mother who has
recently passed away--thus something
very important to me. I was filled with
sadness when I contacted Noor's Oriental
rugs (found on the internet), convinced
that I would need to throw them both
away. I spoke with Mohammad, who
immediately offered to drive over to my
house and assess the condition of my
rugs. Within two hours, Mohammad had
arrived, carried my rugs down to the
sidewalk, unrolled and diagnosed them.
Within seconds, he could name the
country, village, age, weave and dye of
the rugs. I was amazed! He carefully
explained the process of cleaning the
rugs, preventing the moths from
returning (including an in depth
discussion about the biology of moths!),
and how he and his team carefully
restore rugs. Several weeks later, he
invited me to the shop to present the
cleaned rugs and discuss restoration.
The rugs had never looked so beautiful!
We spent an hour drinking tea--he showed
me each area of moth damage, what will
be needed to restore, and he presented
me with a very fair price and flexible
plan. He also showed me some of his
masterpieces--works in progress.
Mohammad is a true artist and a kind
person. I have recommended him to my
friends and family, both near and far.
Sincerely,

Serendipity played
a big role in my finding Mohammad
Nooraee when I had all but abandoned
hope of ever being able to enjoy my
dull-gold Bokhara again. Over the course
of the twenty-five years since I had
bought it while at MIT, it had endured
the vicissitudes of multiple moves, a
stint in pawn, improper storage
conditions, and a long stay under the
writing table of a friend who smoked
heavily, and it was more grey than gold
and very dusty and grimy and probably a
haven for moths by the time I was
finally able to reclaim it. In that
condition, I could not use it and almost
despaired of it, a work
of art seemingly destroyed by
circumstances beyond my control. During
a chance walk along Concord Avenue late
last summer, I noticed Mr. Nooraee’s
gallery and made a note of its name and
address, contacted him and was welcomed
to the showroom , and soon realized that
a solution for the problem rug had
presented itself: the knowledge, expert
service and highest standard of
workmanship and care which have restored
my old friend the Bokhara so it looks
better than I had ever seen it, even in
our early days together.
It transpired that
I had had earlier indirect contact with
Mr. Nooraee without realizing it. I
actually own one of his beautiful rugs,
purchased several years ago from an
interior design shop where he had
consigned it. When I looked carefully,
the original Noor tag was still attached
to the corner!
It is clear that I
would not hesitate to recommend Mr.
Nooraee’s company to anyone seeking and
appreciating highest quality. |
